Iraqi forces assume control of cities



Maj. Gen. Daniel Bolger, commander of U.S forces in Baghdad, gives the symbolic key of the Iraqi Defense Ministry to Iraqi army Lt. Gen. Aboud Gambar. Iraqi forces assumed formal control of Baghdad and other cities on Tuesday after American troops handed over security in urban areas in a defining step toward ending the U.S. combat role in the country.
